Kennedy Town is a historical district in Hong Kong with a mix of old and new real estate. The flat is located at the center of the neighborhood, making it very accessible to the Public facilities in Kennedy Town. With sports and recreation grounds around the corner, a minute’s walk to the nearest MTR station, and a food market around the corner. The Promenade is a 10-minute walk from the entrance, with a fantastic view of Kowloon.
Kennedy Town also has a range of activities around the clock, with midnight snack bars and early morning dim sum at 3:30 am. The Promenade bay becomes a skate park around 4-6 pm, with a mix of cross-cultural restaurants and chic local ‘Cha Chan Tings’ in the area that reveals the vibrant color of Hong Kong.
Design Process
Renewing an old typology of 1960s Tong Lau. The living room expands into one of the small bedrooms and the bathroom. The bathroom swaps places with the kitchen; (1) The open kitchen becomes a part of the social gathering area. (2) While the Bathroom can have space for more amenities. By doing this, the living room can get more natural light from different sides.
